40 – INTERPRETING DREAMS WITH AUTOMATIC WRITING

This weeks lil episode is more about the tings, as I talk about Interpreting Dreams with Automatic Writing. Writing about stuff always seems to unearth tings you could never come up with just by thinking.

I feel all dreams are trying to tell us something, and Automatic Writing is done when you’re still half asleep, which is why Interpreting Dreams with Automatic Writing works so well.

To keep the dream theme going, this weeks Book Book is a great book called Understanding Dreams by Keith Hearne and David Melbourne, but we do have a lil bit of arty stuff in this one, thanks to the lil Art Tip.

Are you into Dreaming? If you answered yes, I highly recommend this weeks Book Book. Understanding Dreams covers so many topics, and you’re sure to learn something new, such as Ancient Civilizations relationships with Dreams, Lucid Dreaming, Nightmares, Sleep Disorders … even Virtual Reality; this book discusses it all, and so much more.

Love this Book Book, and I hope you love this episode too :)

lil ART TIP TIME
USE THE BLUR FILTER, TO CREATE A DIGITAL SQUINT
Squinting allows you to look at something complex you’re trying to draw, and break it down into big basic shapes. It basically removes all the details, so you can concentrate on getting the overall feel of the thing right.
On the computer, you can create the effect of squinting, by using a blur filter. In Photoshop, you can adjust the blur amount, so it’s way more versitle than squinting, as you can knock something down to super simple shapes.
If you’re ever struggling to ‘see’ what you’re trying to draw, or if you simply want to remove all the details from what you’ve drawn to compare it with the reference image, adding a temporary blur filter is a great way to achieve this while working digitally.
