I saw this image of Cheryl Cole on Google and instantly thought, I need to draw her! It was 2014 and I was still struggling with making Darks Dark, so that was the main reason I picked this image.

There was a point during this drawing where I just said to myself, sod this, it’s time you risk ruining the drawing … and with that, I picked up my 4B pencil and just went nuts with the darkness on her face :) I felt fearless in that moment, but it came at a price, I got so excited I made the paper all rough and it was bit hard to smooth out the tones after that lol

Lots was learnt during this drawing, and I loved doing her outfit. I always used to hate drawing clothes, but lately I’ve started forcing myself to pay more attention to them, and I’ve started enjoying it, they’re just shapes after all. It’s a mental thing, if you think something’s going to be hard to draw it will be, if you think it’s just a bunch of shapes, before you know you’ve drawn the outfit super realistically without even realising it lol
