“THESE THINGS, THEY LAST FOREVER.“
– Sophie Lawson
There was supposed to be a new YouTube video this week, but it never happened because I wanted things to be perfect … so instead of putting something out that wasn’t perfect, I put nothing out :( This week I talk about something I find really hard to do … putting out imperfect work. and how it’s better to put something out that’s good enough, than nothing at all.
SVSLearn.com is the main topic for this weeks lil episode, as I talk about my experience studying with SVSLearn, the Society of Visual Storytelling. We also have the lil Art Tip, which is about creating Colour Palettes for Painting, the Book Book is Keys To Drawing by Bert Dodson, and the Fascinating Fact is about something called Distributed Practice, which drastically increases Knowledge Retention when learning. I also tell a lil story at the end about a Meditation that resulted in an Orgasm. Hope you like this one :)
‘Read one of your Blog Posts – 30 in 30 Painting Challenge’ was this weeks random topic, and it ends up being a talk about how Fun, Freeing and Messy Painting Is, How Art Challenges help make you more adaptable, confident and less of a Perfectionist, and how Writing while doing an Art Challenge is a good way to learn more about your art and yourself. Hope you like this one :)
This one’s about Iterating in Public, and how I’m going to try a new format for the show. I also talk a lil about my time at a recent Life Drawing class with the amazing Ian Barlow, and a few other bits and bobs. Hope you enjoy it :)
This be the first of the new format, where I have 15 minutes to talk about a random topic :) The subject for this episode was … ‘Talk About My SVSLearn Creative Composition Study Notes’; it ends up mostly being about: The Importance of Thumbnails, How Nature Uses Fractals to Create Tings, and How Designing is just as much Fun As Drawing :) Hope you like it.
What a Beauty this lil Art Book is! I love it, I have a feeling in years to come, Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon, will go down as one of my all time favourite art books … it’s So Simple, yet So Inspiring. For such a lil Art Book, it packs in so much wisdom; Every single page is full of Juicy Creative Goodness. Hope you have fun with this one :)
This lil episode’s more like a therapy session about my struggles of finding balance between work and play. I talk about sacrificing Videogames, how the Discipline of saying no to chocolate bars is helping me say NO to bigger temptations, and how you need to work out what to stop completely vs cut down on; this ones all about Finding Balance … oh, and I also share another healing Lucid Dream I experienced during the week :)
Get outside with Nature, the voice in my head kept saying, so I did, and I took lil Dennis with me to record this podcast while walking through the woods of Saltrum, before doing a spot of Sunbathing :) It ends up being a discussion about Doing Too Much Stuff, how Nature helps in Finding Balance, and there’s a lot about Facing Fears. I tell a story about these pink sunglasses I started wearing in 2015 that changed my life, by helping me overcome some of my biggest fears. Fear seems to be the recurring topic this week, because I also tell how I went Wild Camping last weekend, and ended up walking 12 miles through the creepy woods in the dead of night. I also reveal how You Can Win some Art Books, woohoo. This is a bit of a different podcast than usual, but I hope you have fun with it :)
This lil episode covers a lot of topics, but mainly it’s about my early experience of using Lucid Dreaming to help heal from Child Abuse … I also talk about Virtual Reality with PSVR, are Videogames bad for you?, a Reiki Healing ‘Healing crisis’, Following Your Bliss, Genital Reassignment Surgery and how I think from time to time we all have to stop and ask ourselves … What do I really want From Life?
‘Talk about your Families Reaction to you being Transgender’ was this weeks random topic. I talk about my experience of Coming Out As Transgender with my Mum, Dad, Niece, Nephew, and Sister; even ringing my Sister up at the end to talk about how she feels about me being Transgender. Hope you like this one :)
