Quite exciting really, and it even makes the rest of the day more fun as you go to work feeling like you’ve already achieved something.
CREATE A BUNCH OF PRE-FILLED PENCIL CASES, AND PUT THEM IN ALL THE PLACES YOU’RE GOING TO NEED THEM, SO THAT YOU CAN GET INTO DRAWING MORE QUICKLY.
Hope you enjoy this one. If you have any tips/ struggles about waking up early, or if you have any questions/topics you’d like discussed in future episodes, please get in touch. You can message me down the bottom of this page, or by sending me an email

– Sophie Lawson
On this episode I dive into the topic of Spirituality … Automatic Writing is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with, what I like to call, the Universe. It’s life changing stuff, because in just two weeks I’ve managed to go from being scared of transitioning at the day job, to not only throwing away all my male clothes and being my true self at work, but also wearing a little swimsuit in public, and facing the fear of learning how to swim … I’m beginning to see a deep connection between Art and Spirituality.
This one’s about Iterating in Public, and how I’m going to try a new format for the show. I also talk a lil about my time at a recent Life Drawing class with the amazing Ian Barlow, and a few other bits and bobs. Hope you enjoy it :)
This lil one’s all about Gesture Drawing; I talk about why it’s my most fun drawing exercise, how online resources QuickPoses.com and Croquis Cafe can help improve your Gesture Drawing skills, and there’s this weeks lil Art Tip, which is Gesture Drawing related. We also have a new feature this week in Book Book Time :) where I’ll be looking at a different book each episode, and this weeks Book Book changed my life, it’s Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How To Lose Your Mind And Create A New One, by Dr Joe Dispenza. Hope you like this one :)
This one’s a lil bit different and more about the tings, as I share a Holotropic Breathwork experience, which leads into: Ancient Civilisations, Aliens, Time Travel and Remote Viewing the War in Heaven … fascinating stuff. I highly recommend trying out Holotropic Breathwork for yourself. The Fascinating Fact is related, as it’s to do with Breathing, the lil Art Tip is all about the colour of your art tools and the Book Book is one of my favourites, Sophie’s World. As always, hope you like this one :)
This one’s about the Lucid Dreaming, and some of my recent Lucid Dream Experiences. Including: a Self Aware Taxi Driver who drove me into a Previous Dream, moving stone blocks with my Mind, becoming a Ghost in another Reality, getting Distracted by Naked Breasts, and a house I couldn’t Escape from, resulting in a string of False Awakenings … there’s even a lil story about a Purring cat who was sat on my bed. Hope you enjoy this one, Sweet Dreams :)
This lil episode is for us sleepyheads out there :) Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to sacrifice my sleep this week … not cool. It’s been interesting though, seeing how sleep is key to everything. This weeks lil Art Tip is more of a mental one, about how never to assume when learning anything to do with Art, and that’s pretty much it for this one. Hope you like it, I’m gonna to go sleep now :)
This lil Piggy went to Market, and ended up becoming Addicted to Buying Tings … Addiction, that’s the topic of this weeks episode. I talk about being Addicted to Buying Videogames, being Addicted to Buying Art Books, being Addicted to Buying Dresses and Shoes, but, how I’m Overcoming Addiction with the help of Awareness and Saying NO! My conclusion though? I think You can have your Cake and Eat It, you just Can’t Eat It All At Once … have a lil Slice Now and Again :)I also talk about Limiting Beliefs, Affirmations, Automatic Writing, and a bit random, but at the very end, the Board Game Arkham Horror :) Hope you find this one interesting.
‘Talk about your Families Reaction to you being Transgender’ was this weeks random topic. I talk about my experience of Coming Out As Transgender with my Mum, Dad, Niece, Nephew, and Sister; even ringing my Sister up at the end to talk about how she feels about me being Transgender. Hope you like this one :)
Drawing Erasers are not just for erasing mistakes, they can be just as much a drawing tool as a pencil :) Join me for episode Four of the So Free Art Podcast, where I talk about my Best Drawing Erasers for Realistic Pencil Drawing. Including my favourite: Plastic Eraser, Kneaded Eraser, Battery Operated Eraser and the Tombow Mono Zero Eraser Pen :)
‘Read one of your Blog Posts – 30 in 30 Painting Challenge’ was this weeks random topic, and it ends up being a talk about how Fun, Freeing and Messy Painting Is, How Art Challenges help make you more adaptable, confident and less of a Perfectionist, and how Writing while doing an Art Challenge is a good way to learn more about your art and yourself. Hope you like this one :)
