PLAYTIME :) Making Art Should Be Fun … if it’s not fun, stop doing it. I always used to have that mantra when playing videogames. If I wasn’t having fun, I would just stop playing it. This week I realised the same applies to everything in life, including making Art.
2018 will be the first year I don’t exhibit my Realistic Pencil Drawings in the Plymouth Art Club’s yearly Art Exhibition, and it’s because
Creating a lilSOPHIE is way more FUN
I was still strangling with the thought that I don’t want to be in this years Art Exhibition, or create a new Realistic Pencil Drawing for it, when I randomly bumped into Artist Dave Crocker outside my house; we first met in 2014 at my very first Art Exhibition.
We had a lovely chat about LIFE BEING CHAPTERS, and how everything, including Realistic Pencil Drawings, can be seen as like STEPPING STONES TO KEEP YOU MOVING FORWARD; and just because you leave one stone behind for now, DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN’T RETURN TO IT AT A LATER DATE.
Such a spontaneous encounter, but it really helped me make sense of my conflicting thoughts, and how Making Art Should Be Fun :)
I also briefly talk about another Lucid Dream experience, this time with a doubleganger trying to sabotage my Lucid Dreaming efforts, and we have this weeks lil ART TIP, which is
lil ART TIP TIME
INVEST IN SOME COMPUTER GLASSES, SO YOU CAN DIGITALLY PAINT AWAY FOR HOURS WITHOUT ANY EYE STRAIN OR HEADACHES … PLUS THEY LOOK SEXY :)
Hope you enjoy this one. If you have any tips/ struggles about how to get the fun back in your art, or if you have any questions/topics you’d like discussed in future episodes, please get in touch. You can message me down the bottom of this page, or by SENDING ME AN EMAIL

On this episode I dive into the topic of Spirituality … Automatic Writing is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with, what I like to call, the Universe. It’s life changing stuff, because in just two weeks I’ve managed to go from being scared of transitioning at the day job, to not only throwing away all my male clothes and being my true self at work, but also wearing a little swimsuit in public, and facing the fear of learning how to swim … I’m beginning to see a deep connection between Art and Spirituality.
What are the Best Drawing Pencils for Gesture Drawing? Sketching? or Realistic Pencil Drawing? No idea lol but join me for episode Three of the So Free Art Podcast, to find what my personal favourite Drawing Pencils are, and why I prefer using Mechanical / Clutch pencils over traditional wooden pencils :)
This lil episode’s more like a therapy session about my struggles of finding balance between work and play. I talk about sacrificing Videogames, how the Discipline of saying no to chocolate bars is helping me say NO to bigger temptations, and how you need to work out what to stop completely vs cut down on; this ones all about Finding Balance … oh, and I also share another healing Lucid Dream I experienced during the week :)
Drawing Erasers are not just for erasing mistakes, they can be just as much a drawing tool as a pencil :) Join me for episode Four of the So Free Art Podcast, where I talk about my Best Drawing Erasers for Realistic Pencil Drawing. Including my favourite: Plastic Eraser, Kneaded Eraser, Battery Operated Eraser and the Tombow Mono Zero Eraser Pen :)
In this lil episode I talk about an experience I had on the bus today that was both funny, and awkward at the same time … but it made me realise how Social Anxiety, Fears and everything in life can be viewed either positively or negatively. I share some Art, Transgender and even Lucid Dreaming experiences too, that prove we really are in control of our thoughts.
This weeks lil podcast is all about Trees; I think everyone should get themselves a little tree friend, they’re like a pack of smarties … they always have the answers :) I talk about my wise Tree Friend, Lucid Dreaming and do a bit of sketching outside at Saltrum, before my lead runs out.
On this episode I talk about Thoughts … where do thoughts come from? How comes while I’m drawing thoughts sometimes try to put me off? How comes thoughts have the power to either negatively or positively impact reality? .., I have a theory that thoughts could be linked to the Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser Experiment, this one’s a bit bonkers :)
There was supposed to be a new YouTube video this week, but it never happened because I wanted things to be perfect … so instead of putting something out that wasn’t perfect, I put nothing out :( This week I talk about something I find really hard to do … putting out imperfect work. and how it’s better to put something out that’s good enough, than nothing at all.
This lil episode is all about copying other artists work, not the naughty kind of copying, but the drawing exercise that’s a fun way to play and learn at the same time :) We also have a new ‘lil art tips’ feature joining the podcast this week, woohoo lol
This lil episode is another one of those Art Focused Therapy Session ones, where I just empty the contents of my head into the microphone about the topic of Focusing on One Passion. I talk about the conflict of knowing I need to focus on Art, but feeling like I’m not able to … eventhough I know I am. I also talk about another Lucid Dream experience, Mindset while Drawing, Finding Balance, and this weeks lil Art Tip is all about the importance of Keeping Your Old Drawings :)
