This lil one’s all about Gesture Drawing, a really fun drawing exercise that helps get more energy into your artwork, especially Characters. I talk about why it’s MY MOST FUN DRAWING EXERCISE, and how online resources like QuickPoses.com and Croquis Cafe, can help improve your Gesture Drawing skills.
There’s also a new feature this week in Book Book Time :) where I look at a different book each episode, as well as the lil Art Tip, which this week is :
lil ART TIP TIME
USE THE BIGGEST PIECE OF PAPER YOU CAN FIND WHEN DOING GESTURE DRAWING
If you’re limited by the paper size, you end up holding back and not being able to really go for it, and Gesture Drawing is all about going for it. Feeling the Pose, and Throwing Long, Sexy, Confident Lines all over the Paper … so it’s best to use the biggest sheet of paper you can find :)
Here’s an extra teeny weeny lil ART TIP … it’s more of a challenge really, but
TRY STARTING A GESTURE DRAWING WHERE YOU FEEL THE MOST FEELING, NOT NECESSARILY WITH THE HEAD
A lot of people say start with the head, but I’ve found my Gestures feel more Energetic when I start where I feel the most feeling. That feeling place is where I’m most Excited, and that initial Excitement seems to Flow throughout the rest of the Gesture when I start with it.
New feature Alert!
It’s BOOK BOOK Time :) Each week I’ll be talking about a book I’ve either read in the past, currently reading, or want to read in the future. Art books, Spiritual books, Story books, Kids books? … I’m not fussy, if it’s a good book I’ll talk about it :)
BOOK BOOK 1 goes to – Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How To Lose Your Mind And Create A New One, by Dr Joe Dispenza
This book changed my life, I haven’t read it in over five years, but the stuff I learnt in this one really did stay with me. Like Art, this book makes you see the world totally differently, and I have a feeling it could end up being the most important book you ever read; Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, by Dr Joe Dispenza, had to be my first BOOK BOOK :)

” GESTURE DRAWING IS ALL ABOUT FEELING. “
– Sophie Lawson
SVSLearn.com is the main topic for this weeks lil episode, as I talk about my experience studying with SVSLearn, the Society of Visual Storytelling. We also have the lil Art Tip, which is about creating Colour Palettes for Painting, the Book Book is Keys To Drawing by Bert Dodson, and the Fascinating Fact is about something called Distributed Practice, which drastically increases Knowledge Retention when learning. I also tell a lil story at the end about a Meditation that resulted in an Orgasm. Hope you like this one :)
This weeks lil podcast is all about Trees; I think everyone should get themselves a little tree friend, they’re like a pack of smarties … they always have the answers :) I talk about my wise Tree Friend, Lucid Dreaming and do a bit of sketching outside at Saltrum, before my lead runs out.
This lil episode’s more like a therapy session about my struggles of finding balance between work and play. I talk about sacrificing Videogames, how the Discipline of saying no to chocolate bars is helping me say NO to bigger temptations, and how you need to work out what to stop completely vs cut down on; this ones all about Finding Balance … oh, and I also share another healing Lucid Dream I experienced during the week :)
On this episode I talk about Self Awareness and Art … Learning how to Draw is all about Self Awareness, such as being aware of Negative Spaces, but it doesn’t have to stop with the Art. This same Self Awareness can be used to start tackling mental issues like OCD, Social Anxiety and even heal suppressed emotional situations from our life. Art is powerful, it always seems to lead to Self Awareness, which seems key to self healing.
This lil episode is about how Making Art should be Fun, and a time to Play. I realised something this week, I don’t enjoy realistic pencil drawings as much as I used to, which scared me at first until I realised, if you’re not having fun, stop doing it :) I also share another Lucid Dream experience, and this weeks lil Art Tip is about avoiding eye strain while Digitally Painting :)
This lil podcast’s about saying Thank You when things aren’t going so well, a new Fun 8 Minute Drawing Challenge I’ve found, and Sausages … this weeks lil Art Tip is actually a lil Sausage Tip :) There’s also the BOOK BOOK, which is a book called Feeling is the Secret, by Neville Goddard. Hope you like this sausage lol
This lil episode is all about something I got hit with recently … Overwhelm. I talk about how I think I need videogames in my life for balance, how Transitioning takes up a lot of time, remembering why I started Drawing in the First place, Floatation Tanks, Swimming, Reiki Healing … I even talk about turning my Willy into a Fanny on this one lol
This lil episode is all about copying other artists work, not the naughty kind of copying, but the drawing exercise that’s a fun way to play and learn at the same time :) We also have a new ‘lil art tips’ feature joining the podcast this week, woohoo lol
This lil ones about the Lucid Dreaming Practice, some of the tings I’ve found helpful in becoming Lucid, and also, the struggles of dedicating to the Lucid Dreaming Practice, while still Producing and Studying Art. The Book Book is Journeys Out Of The Body, by Robert Monroe, the lil Art Tip is about the importance of Drawing What You Love and the Fascinating Fact is the Amount of Time we Spend Dreaming in a Lifetime. Hope you enjoy this one :)
A few days ago I had my first Lucid Dream … since than, my mind’s gone deep into the Lucid Dreaming Rabbit Hole. I’ve started asking myself: Is it possible to Manifest a Painting while Dreaming, than create it for real when you Wake up? Sounds Bonkers, but turns out there’s proof it can be done :)
